Historical context: 500 years after the foundation of our port on 7 February 1517 and our city on 8 October 1517 by King François the 1st (also called Francis the first), our city celebrates this year 2017 its 500th spring! You know that there is only one occasion to celebrate its 500 years, so the Mayor of the city of Le Havre decided to orchestrate large festivities under the french code name ‘Un Été au Havre’ (in english: A summer in Le Havre 2017)
The cultural program ‘A Summer in Le Havre 2017’ was conceived by the artistic director Jean Blaise, who has been recognized for amazing recent events such as the 1st edition of Nuit Blanche in 2002 in Paris or the Estuaire Festival in 2007 in Nantes .
What happens during those festivities? A beautiful festival of worldwide artists, designers, actors… The triumphant return of the Royal de Luxe giants, monumental monuments like the containers catena, popular parades and the world’s largest sailing ships… A very rich content, already available on the official website of the event ‘A Summer in Le Havre 2017’.
